Where am I?

August 5, 2006 8:48am

It’s been busy, and therefore I haven’t been able to update much. Work has been exhausting, mostly due to the crazy temperatures. I’m looking forward to the weekend. I laid out my landscaping ideas to the landlord, who said he would pay for all the materials as long as I would be willing to do all the work. It’s a nice tradeoff, but I’ve been unwilling to work outdoors in this heat if it isn’t necessary.

Work has been going great. I applied for two available promotions, and I think I did really well on both interviews. Each position offers a salary, an office, and an indoor job. :) It may be a week or more before I find anything out. Dad also found a new job, going back to construction management. It’s the financial boost I think he’s been needing.

On a final note, we voted out two pro-creationists from the Kansas School Board on Tuesday, replacing them with people with brains (Kansas is lacking people with such organs). This re-establishes a pro-science approach to public education.

Thank god! (about the brains!) Good luck on the jobs, too, I think you’ve earned them :)

[...] From a recent post, I mentioned I applied for two promotions within the company I work for. Both are very good positions that I would be very happy to have, and I felt I did wonderful on the interviews. The first job I applied for was a non-management roll, but the position ended up going to another applicant. The manager I interview with for that job followed up with me and was very polite, but basically said I was over-qualified and should seek a management job instead. [...]
