Sporty little car complete with tinted windows, rear suicide doors, manual transmission, MP3 player plug-in, and one year of OnStar.

God’s Sense of Humor

13-April-07 9:20 pm

I hate activist churches. They promote hate and intolerance, counter to what the Bible largely represents. Wichita isn’t short of such churches. One is the Spirit One Christian Church, whose web page details “current events” such as how Hillary Clinton, Islam, and anything else that they don’t agree with must be condemned. No where to be found is the food drive for the poor or the Saturday night dinner for members.

In a beautiful display of God’s sense of humor, lightning struck the Spirit One Christian Church today, blowing out windows and destroying part of the roof. I’m sure if God was on earth today, he’d be familiar with the term douche-bag when describing such “Christians.”

Catching Up

12-April-07 7:37 pm

I put some new things up on the blog: “Listening To,” “Out My Window,” and “Random Quote.” The “Listening To” section is updated automatically every time iTunes plays a new song. If iTunes is closed, then it reflects that as well. “Out My Window” is just my cheap little webcam pointed at my window, uploading a new picture every minute. “Random Quote” displays a quote from my quotes list that is, at this time, limited to about 30 quotes I hastily picked. Refreshing the page brings a new random quote, possibly a slightly different picture, and maybe the next song in my playlist. Not fantastic I know, but sometimes it’s nice to do something just because you can.

This American Life

10-April-07 1:27 pm

This American Life (web) is, as once mentioned before here on this blog, the best entertainment program on any medium. Saturday afternoons it can be heard at 3pm in Wichita on NPR (89.1 FM - KMUW). Now the show is coming to Showtime, in which I’m sure even more people will discover and be enlightened by all the true stories of American Life.

Try this free 60 minute episode for a taste.

Shamrock errr…. Reunion?

8-April-07 6:34 pm

It was almost like a high school reunion at the Shamrock last night.

I was also asked to pose nude for a WSU art class on Saturday. I think I’m going to do it.

Apartment Pics

5-April-07 7:02 am

I took a break yesterday from catching up on take-home office work to take pictures of the living area of my new apartment. My bedroom was covered with various piles of paperwork, so I’ve yet to get pictures from there.

Getting Moved

3-April-07 11:30 am

I took off work to move out on the 16th and 17th of March. The move took both days, in which an 8-hour trip to Illinois immediately followed for my Grandmother’s funeral. Slowly I’ve been unpacking and cleaning. I’m almost finished now, two weeks later, with only a few odds and ends to complete before I feel this move is done. I need to hang my projector screen (right now the HD projector is aimed at a blank white wall), and I need to get a pseudo door or curtain for the entrance to the bedroom to make up for the lack of a door. I’ll have some pictures soon.

While moving over here, it’s rained quite a bit in Wichita. I must have moved out just in time, because the ceiling finally started to collapse from the weight and damage of rain water. I’m still pretty mad that Leasing Plus and Total Management as well as the landlord were both aware that the roof needed to be completely replaced per an insurance adjuster’s recommendation months before we moved in. As the voicemail left on my cell phone from Vicki at Leasing Plus went, “the landlord had planned to replace the roof in November, but thought he would be selling the property so he held off.” I moved into the house in December. So when Vicki advised me that her attorney would have to be notified since I’m breaking my lease, I said I’m willing for this to get ugly. She then said her attorney said I should have given her a written notice of which they have 30 days to complete repairs to the property. I argued that such a written notice to inform them of the damage is moot since they were previously aware of the damages before I moved in. Also, Kim gave them written notice in December about a week after we moved in and had rain flood the kitchen. In retrospect, my written notice to move out shouldn’t have only demanded to be released of the lease, but I should have also asked to be reimbursed my rent as well as the cost of some of my utilities. Oh well - I turned the keys over yesterday morning. I’m a little anxious to see if they bother to follow up with me.
